Colorist Engineer (National) vs. Personal Color Analyst (Private Certification)
Colorist Engineer / Industrial Colorist is a nationally recognized certification issued by Q-net, under Korea’s Ministry of Employment and Labor. A Personal Color Analyst certification, by contrast, is a private credential issued by individual associations and organizations. Personal color consulting itself can be run on a private certification alone, but APL’s standard — based on years of watching this industry — is that anyone training those consultants should hold at least a nationally certified Colorist Engineer or Industrial Colorist credential.

Clearing Up the Details — Does This Curriculum Work Overseas Too?
APL also runs instructor training in Osaka, Japan. The core structure mirrors the domestic Professional Course, but it’s delivered with the flexibility needed for each country’s context. Typically, days 1–3 cover theory lectures, and days 4–5 focus on practicing the real 1:1 consulting process. Students are paired up and practice diagnosing each other’s frame type and personal color in small groups — APL’s reasoning being that “this sticks in memory far longer than studying theory alone.” We’ve already covered the fact that many students come from the hair industry, along with the regular schedule itself, in our corporate lecture guide, so here we’re focusing only on what hasn’t been covered yet — the teaching method (educational process) itself.
The Evidence — Real Graduate Outcomes
Upon completion, graduates receive both a private certification and a Level 1 certification issued by the Korea Personal Color Fashion Beauty Association (KCFB), which APL’s founder established. Students come from Korea, China, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and more — and one graduate from Japan’s first cohort in 2023 now runs a hair salon in Nishinomiya Gardens, using APL’s system to diagnose local clients.
